Janet Hochberg
Executive Director
Janet Hochberg was born in Rochester and graduated from Hilton High School before enlisting in the United States Navy, where she served at Submarine Base Pearl Harbor and Johnston Atoll. Following an honorable discharge, Janet fell in love with the beauty, culture, and spirit of aloha and made Hawaii her home for the next forty years.
Throughout her career, Janet has dedicated herself to serving seniors and their families with compassion and excellence. After working for one of Hawaii’s largest home healthcare organizations, she went on to establish her own state-licensed non-medical home care agency, earning the trust of families and healthcare professionals alike for delivering safe, reliable, and high-quality care.
Her commitment to service extended well beyond healthcare. Janet was actively involved in initiatives supporting individuals experiencing homelessness throughout Honolulu and championed efforts that strengthened and supported single mothers and their children.
Today, Janet is honored to serve as Executive Director of Shepherd Home, where she leads with a deep belief that every person deserves to be cared for regardless of their circumstances with the utmost dignity and respect at the end of life. She is grateful to have returned to her roots in the Rochester area and to be part of an organization whose mission reflects the values that have guided her throughout both her personal and professional life.
Janet and her husband, Jim, reside in Hilton, where they enjoy being close to family, especially her father. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, bird watching, spending time with loved ones, and unwinding with a good crime series on Netflix.
Diane Morrison
Nurse Manager
Diane’s commitment to healthcare began in her hometown of Niagara Falls, where she volunteered with the Red Cross at fourteen and later served as a Candy Striper — early experiences that sparked her lifelong dedication to caring for others. She pursued nursing with purpose, completing a vocational LPN program while working as a CNA in long term care, where she developed a deep affection for the elderly. She began her BSN at Keuka College and later completed her degree at the University of Maryland at Baltimore.
After earning her Master of Science in Nursing Education, she discovered how deeply she resonated with teaching – guiding new nurses through clinicals, facilitating simulation, designing curriculum, and mentoring colleagues with the goal of building confidence and competence. Education became a thread woven through every role she held.
She furthered her education to become a Board-Certified Adult Gero Primary Care Nurse Practitioner. Her work across primary care, long term care, palliative care, and hospice has always drawn her to the moments where skill meets humanity. Diane’s career has been shaped by a belief in the power of connection, learning, and patient centered, compassionate care. Her clinical practice is complemented by her experience as a nurse educator and associate professor.
Rooted in her values of faith, service, integrity, and continuous growth, she is always committed to making a meaningful impact through education, collaboration, and forward-thinking health initiatives to include evidenced based practice.
Diane is a woman of lifelong service including volunteering with hospice and serving on the board of the Genesee Valley nurses Association as President, past President and now treasurer. She is a member of Finger Lakes Nurse Honor Guard honoring the lives and legacies of nurses who are transitioning or who have passed. She states, “this is an extension of the work that has shaped my own life. Nursing has never been just a profession to me – it has been a calling, a community, and a lineage of caregivers who carried the lamp before I did. Honoring those at the end of their earthly journey is both a privilege and a calling – a way to recognize compassion, sacrifice, and quiet strength that so often go unseen. The rituals of the Honor Guard, from the lighting of the Nightingale lamp to the final call to duty, reflect the values that have guided my own path: dignity, respect, and deep gratitude for those who cared before me. By standing in ceremony, we not only pay tribute to the legacy of nursing, but offer comfort to families, and affirm that every nurse’s life and service mattered”.
Joseph Bretz RN
Nurse Coordinator
Joseph has been a Registered Nurse and a Rochester resident since childhood. He primarily worked in the Rochester Regional Health Care System in the areas of Critical Care, Cardiology, as a Perfusionist in Cardiac Surgery, Ambulatory Surgery, and Plastic Surgery.
Joseph came to Shepherd Home in June 2024 as a volunteer. At the beginning of 2025, he accepted the offer to work per-diem as a call nurse for weekend On-call and cover at times during the week. He very much enjoys the volunteers and loves the beautiful atmosphere that is Shepherd Home. Joseph enjoys doing various Home improvement projects and gardening.
Julianne Pancio, BSN, RN
Nurse Coordinator
Julianne began working at the Shepherd Home in October 2025. She has been a nurse for over 30 years, with experience across a range of settings including geriatrics, the intensive care unit, the medical-surgical floor, and most recently, as a school nurse. Julianne feels fortunate to have a profession that has adapted over time and allowed her to balance both work and family life. She has always found purpose in caring for others, no matter the environment.
Julianne’s interest in hospice nursing was sparked years ago when she volunteered briefly at the Shepherd Home. The warmth and compassion she felt from the staff and volunteers left a lasting impression. That experience stayed with her and inspired her to become part of this community as a nurse. She appreciates hospice nursing because it allows her to provide comfort and support to patients and their families during one of life’s most vulnerable times.
Julianne is married and has three adult children. She has recently welcomed both a daughter-in-law and a son-in-law into their family, and she feels very blessed to share that her husband and she are expecting their first grandchild in December.
In her free time, Julianne enjoys reading, cooking, and taking walks with their dog, Rambo. She also treasures the precious moments she spends with her family. Additionally, she finds peace and joy at their lake home in Canandaigua, where she loves swimming, boating, and watching the sunsets.
Julianne is truly looking forward to her new role in hospice care and to becoming more involved in the fundraising activities that bring their community together. It’s an honor to be part of the mission to support the Shepherd Home, build lasting connections, and help ensure it continues to thrive.
Lisa Clark
Bookkeeper
Lisa Clark joined Shepherd Home in July 2024 as their part-time Bookkeeper. While working for Shepherd Home, she holds a full-time position in the accounting department at a local marketing firm, where she’s been for the past 13 years.
When the opportunity to become part of the Shepherd Home team presented itself, Lisa didn’t hesitate. Being behind the scenes helping alleviate accounting and data entry needs for the house, allows the care takers do what they do best, care for the patients and their families during a difficult time.
Lisa and her husband live in Spencerport with their three children. When she has any down time, she likes to read, hike, and kayak, she enjoys a challenge and learning anything new.
