Location :Frontier Field
Exhilarated by the blue
skies and perfect temperatures, seven Shepherd Home team members joined 500
others to walk in Spike's Hike-the Special Olympics fund raiser for the Genesee
Region. Jan and Bill Dougherty, Kelly and Ron Centola, Kathy Best, JoAnn
McAvoy and Betsy Inglis received pledges from their families and friends to
participate in the 4 1/2 mile walk; the route began at Frontier Field and wound
through Corn Hill, over to the U of R and back to Frontier Field. A picnic lunch
catered by Wegman's awaited the participants. Thanks to all who supported us in
raising money for Special Olympics and Shepherd Home!!

On May
1st, a crew of over 15 people from Thermo Fisher Scientific (Nalge-Nunc)
spent the day at the Shepherd Home for an
outdoor "spring cleaning" and improvement of the Shepherd Home grounds.
Top soil and mulch were spread, plants trimmed, new plantings added, and the
berm was cleaned.
Most importantly, a good time was had by all of the volunteers!

One of the “fun”
fundraisers for the Shepherd Home is our Jar Project.
We fill and sell jars of dry mixes for
* three kinds of soup: Beef, Chicken and Vegetarian;
* two kinds of cookies: Best Ever Chocolate Cookies & Chocolate Raisin Cookies
* and the most popular item of all: the Dog Biscuit Mix!!!.
The dry ingredients are arranged in layers to make a pretty presentation. You
add a minimum of “wet” items such as eggs, water, etc.
We are thinking of expanding our selection this year.…Have any suggestions?
This project works only because most of the ingredients and jars are donated.
If we had to purchase these items the cost would prohibit us from selling them
at a reasonable price.
We are asking for your help to keep us in business.
We always need one quart canning jars, one quart mayonnaise jars and twenty
eight ounce sauce jars. Money donations help us buy jar lids, dog bone cookie
cutters, ingredients and the like.
If you would like to donate food items, the following is our list of
ingredients:
Elbow Macaroni
Vegetable Seasoning
Bell
Seasoning
Italian Seasoning
Chicken Bouillon
